7 Easy Ways to Simplify Your Life and Breathe

Have you ever just taken the time to reflect on how complicated your life has become? In an ever changing and fast paced world, it seems as though lives get much more complicated than they do simplified. This constant need to be trendy and up to speed with everything can have many negative effects on your well being. So, take the necessary steps to simplify your life and you’ll find that it will make you much happier and more relaxed.
1. Bring it down a notch.
You may notice that you are always “on.” You wake up, you get ready for work, rush out the door, work long hours, get home only to rest for a bit and start that routine over and over again. With so much go, there is hardly ever any type for some stop. It is important to remember that you need to slow it down. As you continue to put yourself in constant busy mode, without rest, you’ll slowly break your body down and leave little time to recuperate. Even if you can carve out 30 minutes to an hour a day to rest, do it for the sake of your own body and essential human needs.
2. Learn to let go of the little things.
As difficult as it may seem at first, holding on to grudges and not forgiving others will only continue to hold you back from finding peace. When you take more things with a grain of salt, it becomes much easier to spend your energy on the more important things: your happiness. Letting go also prevents you from constantly spinning your wheels about anything and everything.
3. Get outdoors and leave your phone at the door.
We are so “connected” to our technology that we forget to connect ourselves to nature itself. Take a walk outside with your pets or go for a hike at a local trail. When you distance yourself from distracting devices and force yourself to get outside, you become less and less dependent on needing to check your notifications all the time. They’ll still be there when you get back, but you feel less need to check on them every minute of every day. Plus, getting a little Vitamin D outside never hurt you, either. There are some really top mountain bikes on the market that you might want to look into. Physical activity is always a great idea and it’s good for your health.
4. Declutter physically and mentally.
You ever walk by a pile of papers and think that you really need to file them? Weeks pass by and that pile is still sitting there. You really need to stop procrastinating and get to that right away. The reason being, each time you walk by that pile, you remind yourself of how much you need to do and it begins to clutter your mind, not just your house. Getting organized and taking care of the small tasks you set for yourself will help you feel more accomplished and less overwhelmed. Be sure to set yourself deadlines to meet so that you can stay more on task and organized on a weekly basis.
5. Don’t be too materialistic.
Yes, that new bag is very tempting and beautiful but will it really bring you happiness 6 months from now? I can guarantee you that the answer is definitely no. Try not to get too caught up in the material of things. Instead, spend your hard earned money on experiences and things you really need. Our ancestors lived simplistic lives with little need for fancy cars or houses. Budget your finances and find where you spend too much on things you do not need. Even if it means canceling your overcharged cable, you’ll find that you won’t even miss it after a little time passes.
6. Give back to the community.
Nothing reminds you to be appreciative of what you have when you give back to others who have little to nothing. Whether it be donating your time or money, community service is always a very enlightening experience. You get a chance to become more humble and thankful for what you have. After that, the fancy things don’t really have much meaning to you when you see that someone is hardly surviving with little resources.
7. Spend your time wisely: with those most important to you.
Our time on this earth is never certain. So, not only should you live every moment to its fullest potential, but you should do so with the ones you love most. Time with your family is one of the most essential things that you can do. They will always be the ones to have your back and support every endeavor you choose to pursue. You build strong ties, memories as well as strong character for yourself. The interactions that you have with your loved ones are ones that you will never experience with any other human beings.
