I had a beautiful reheart while you sang yesterday. In highschool I was in a group called “Teens Encounter Christ” or TEC. It was pretty culty haha Many of my closest friends went to a Catholic Church that I went to on Sundays with them. It was a more laid back church, Father Charlie was one of the good ones. TEC had a retreat that we all went to for 3 days in a church – taught us about disciplines and the power of unity. It was intense and we formed many bonds with new friends from across MN. At the end of the weekend, they told us the the whole time there was a group of people called “wheaties” – alone we fall but in unity we sway.

They had been cooking, cleaning, praying for us all weekend (tearing up as I type this). When they brought them in, it was our best friends that had been there before us. The ones that had gotten us there. They walked in to “You Light Up My Life” and from then on it was a ceremonial song that was played to celebrate our unity with God and with each other, mostly by candle light. Hundreds of us came together once a month – we drove 3 hours – to reunite, and every time they played that song for us. I felt you so powerfully then. At 16, you saved me from many dark times when I felt I wanted to die. The only thing that kept me going was my love for you. Thank you for that beautiful memory, for singing yesterday, and for helping me be who you created me to be. I love you infinitely.
